This is the first day of my life.

I have been online shopping for toys for Hudson with a few gift cards we have received. He doesn’t really have that many toys and most of the ones he does have are stuffed animals, which isn’t gonna help his development much, unless he like has a tea party or something!

Toys R’ Us really is the place for kids toys. They are reasonably priced but I seriously don’t want to deal with the return policy. I have like $200.00 worth of stuff just sitting in my cart and I can’t decide what to take out. (I have $150 in gift cards.) I mean, I know he doesn’t need a lot but I just get so excited looking at some of these toys. They remind me of things I had as a kid and I love them.

This brings me to the next question. I mean, are USED toys an option? Like: they only play with these developmental toys for a short time. Can I buy used toys somewhere and just soak them in bleach? Especially because I prefer the vintage-y looking toys anyways. I much prefer the 1980′s/90′s models over today’s jazzy little toys that make my decor (AND ME!!!) cringe at the mere THOUGHT of them being in my house.

I need to start amassing some toys to entertain him with because he is so alert during that day and books only work for so long. He tends to stare at the TV when it is on in front of him which totally freaks me out. I will not raise a couch potato. I was relying on HIM to get ME off my own ass… So, no TV or video games for a long while… unless it is a educational DVD. (I’m looking into Pim’s French DVDs)

And I just realized it’s almost 3AM! Shit. I better get to sleep & fast!!! Hudson will be up at about 6… he is STILL sleeping through the night from about 9PM-6AM consistently every night. Although, tonight, I felt super bad for him because during an earlier nap he spit up on his little sheepskin mat thing (it was a gift and he absolutely ADORES it!) and I had to wash it. Of course you cannot dry sheepskin so it has to air dry. Anyways, when he sleeps he plays with the wool on the mat and tonight he has been trying to grab it in his sleep and it isn’t there. It is an element of comfort he has gotten used to and it made me so sad to see him trying to reach for the familiar and it not being there to comfort him. Oh well, at least he still has that thumb!

Goodnight! ♥

I know I don’t have a kid… But I think some used toys are totally OK. You should check out The Lovely Bump on San Mateo Ave. in San Bruno. I walk by it every morning on the way to Starbuck’s and some of their stuff really isn’t that bad.

Also… Baby Einstein DVD’s are a staple. Tyler and Lucas loved them. I’m pretty sure most kids do. Sometimes I even get sucked in…
