A moment to brag/embarrass the heck out of my husband:
me: (getting into the shower) “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS THING!?!” *points to belly*
Scott: “”Yeah, it’s f***ing hot.” (as he changes a diaper- equally as hot.)
me: “I’m huge. I’m already as big as 9 months pregnant with Hudson. I’m probably gonna be double this size by the time they are born.”
Scott: “I can’t wait. It’s so awesome.”
me: “I hope you remember that once I give birth and my stomach hangs to my knees and looks like it’s been through a meat grinder after being stretched out so much from two babies in there”
My husband, for those of you who don’t know (and he’s quite vocal about this) has what I’d call a pregnancy “thing”. I mean, he is REALLY into pregnant chicks. This includes me of course- but when he points out a hot chick on the street at least 75% percent are ready-to-pop Pregnant.
Let’s clarify that I’m a fat chick by all standards to begin with. My husband thinks I’m beautiful and I am not ashamed to admit that I think so as well. I’m comfortable with myself completely. Some “thin” girls don’t even have that luxury and I consider myself very lucky to be confident in myself. Too few women can say that, which is sad- because everyone is beautiful in their own way!
It’s just the fact that my husband (and hopefully most husbands- but I only know mine) is so into my pregnancy and the way pregnancy (in general) looks – it makes me feel amazing. I hope all pregnant women get the chance to feel WONDERFUL about their bodies- regardless about how epic the changes they may be going through! Get naked- look in that mirror and just be in AWE that that extra weight and giant belly is creating a freaking LIFE. And that my friends, I’d say- is the most beautiful thing EVERRRRRR.
And if there is a few scars or stretchmarks or extra pounds after?! I don’t know a mother in the entire world that wouldn’t tell you it is 100% WORTH IT.

Bazillion percent worth it! My bod will never be the same. It’s OK though (most of the time). And you’re right about the being comfortable with ones self thing. I WISH I had the confidence that you have, a lot of women don’t.
PS super stoked you have a shit ton of blogs for me to catch up on!

Exhibit A:
Scott is trying to fall asleep and I am watching the news.
They are covering the H1N1 shot craze and interviewing a girl who said “I am about 39 weeks pregnant”. Scott sat his ass UP to check her out. He cracks me up and I love him!

Great post lady! It made me remind myself of the beauty of what I accomplished in making Poppy – It’s hard for me not to get bummed sometimes about the effect it had on me physically. Despite currently being a smaller size than before I got pregnant, my poor tummy is a sad sight – I got some of the worst stretch marks you’d ever see. They go from hip-to-hip like a belt, and some of them streak from right under my belly button all the way dooooowwwn! They are still really dark, and I know that even when they lighten up my lower stomach will always look craggy and scarred. But you’re absolutely right that we should wear these marks like a badge of honor! Plus I’m lucky like you in having a husband who thinks I look amazing no matter what. Thanks for this post! You rock (and you are absolutely one of the most naturally beautiful ladies I’ve ever known!) Cheers!

I think the stretch mark thing is where I lucked out last time. Since I had been bigger-smaller-bigger before I had stretchmarks yearrrrs ago that have dissipated pretty well over the years and I barely notice anymore. With my last pregnancy I got maybe 2 or 3 that were only about an inch long- but I know what you’re going through because I have been there. And I promise- they get better!! This time around I am 120% sure I will look like a road map- but I’m totally OK with it. I’ll just have to find a really sassy vintage-y one piece for when I loose enough to wear a bathing suit again~!
