It finally happened.

Today at my prenatal appointment.

I got on the scale. I saw the number. MOST. I. HAVE. EVER. WEIGHED. EVER! by exactly one half of a pound.

In previous posts I have fully admitted to being a fat chick. But, before getting pregnant with Hudson I lost close to 50 pounds courtesy of Weight Watchers. GO ME!

So, even at delivery of my son, I was still like 10 pounds under my worst weight EVER. Add to that the fact that I was only 4 months postpartum when learning of this pregnancy, so I was still well above my starting weight.

Anyhow, it’s happened and I have to deal with it. The doctor told me I should probably gain about another 10 pounds. This is the most horrifying thing I’ve ever heard, but clearly, it is for a good cause. I didn’t have to gain much with Hudson because I was fat to begin with- but apparently with twins those rules do not apply & according to my doctor no matter how giant I am I am still supposed to gain between 40-50 pounds for a twin pregnancy.

Apparently your body isn’t as efficient at allotting calories in a multiple birth.

She also gave me the wonderful news that since everything looks great on my ultrasound she is thinking I may be able to CARRY LONGER. The one shred of hope in my life was the fact that she was talking 36-37 weeks. Now she says they will schedule surgery in the 38-39 week if I haven’t gone into labor myself by then.

Also: YAY! Since I am at higher risk for preterm labor, apparently, I “should really find someone to help me” between 28-32 weeks. Sooooooo, there you go.

I am huge and getting more huge. I am gonna have to carry even longer than I thought. AND I have to be extra careful between 28-32 weeks because that’s the time when preterm labor usually starts if it is going to.

I did, however score an H1N1 vaccine- FINALLY. Painless.

And now I am helping my self stay super pig-esque by eating Nerds on the couch and watching SYTYCD.

I’m glad everything is fine! I know it must be really hard to be carrying twins, but you should feel happy that they might be able to stay in your belly for a while! That means they won’t be so tiny when they are born. One of my friends just had twins and she went up to week 39. It was SO tough for her, but SO worth it bc the babes got to go home with her within days.

Yeah, I realize that the longer I can carry the better- but it’s really hard when I have a 10 month old climbing all over me all day long. He’s getting heavy and it’s just a lot of work. Especially now that I am carrying around all this extra weight. My back hates me and I’m only like 26 weeks.

I think you are 100% valid with your feelings. I can tell you already that you are taking all of this far better than I ever would. I’m sure a good chunk of that weight gain will go away right after having the beautiful little duo. And after this time you won’t have to do it ever again. (well only if you want to) You’re kind of lucky three kids and two pregnancies! Sounds kind of OK to me! ;-)

Ahh, yes. I remember that day myself.

Trust me, when those two babies pop out they’ll keep you so busy that you’ll lose the weight in no time! :)
