This is the first day of my life.

Getting Closerrrr.

January 6th, 2010

So today is the 6th which puts us at t minus 10 days till this kid of mine will be having his first birthday party.

Tonight when my sister-in-law Krust got off work we headed to Michael’s to get some stuff needed for the party & then to the store because I needed groceries & help! AT the grocery store I took the liberty of purchasing a few things like 9 2-liters of soda and some other stuff like Salsa and onion dip mix that won’t go bad before the party. It just saves time & helps lessen the blow when you buy over time. Although, I think I will have to buy more soda, since my only other drink offering is water. I’m still on the fence regarding alcohol. Only because I figure it’s HUDSON’S party so what fun is it to him to watch people get wasted- and more than that- alcohol costs a LOT more. Plus, Hudson’s Great Grandmothers and GREAT- GREAT grandmothers will be in attendance. I mean- my friends can get pretty “silly” when drinking. We will see.

After grabbing some dinner we got to work on some decor! YESSSS. Cut out everything we need and even started decorating our cutouts. I wanted to include pics but people who are coming (That better still include The Hawks, Kristi) read this blog and I don’t want to ruin the surprise. Not that it’s a surprise at all- or even very cool, but what fun is it if you’ve already seen it all?

That said: I am so flippin’ excited. I have really been busting ass to get the decorations done and for them to look cool which is really a gigantic feat seeing as ‘crafty’ is not a work that is used to describe me.

*There are only two places Emily B be gettin’ crafty & one of them is the kitchen folks!*

So, I am both pleased with myself and pleased that I am keeping the cost down-ish. As we were discussing tonight- it’s fun to do everything yourself, but sometimes when you do it yourself it isn’t any less expensive, and is clearly much more work. Luckily, next year will be my last first birthday to contend with and then I am swearing off parties until they are old enough to ask for one.

Oh, luckily I have serious help. My sister in law has been over helping me with the decor and some family is helping with the food. Plus- we aren’t having it at our house, so I don’t have to stress on getting the house perfect or cleaning up after. Our complex has a party room that is actually pretty nice.

I think it will turn out pretty good. I have 99% of the decor already done & now I am in the process of planning/buying food- and all my relatives keep calling asking to chip in with something which is really helping me out! So, now having less on my list is making my life easier!

Not yet!!! And the party is Saturday. I did talk to the girl on Etsy since she claimed to have sent TWO different banners, thinking the first was lost in the mail. And then she realized “she transposed my address” and was sending my banner(s) to a non-existent address. Waiting on banner #3 as we speak.
