Yesterday I told Hudson “no!” I try not to overuse the word so he doesn’t learn to just ignore it. But, yeah, sometimes “no!” is the only appropriate response. Like when he wants to grab my glass of cranberry juice and throw it on the white-ish carpet. Or when he wants to chew on the end of the phone charger while the other end is still plugged in.
Anyways, I said “no!” to which he looked at me. He screamed a pissed off scream and then shook his head “yes” profusely while he continued with his original plan. Are you kidding? I mean- he’s ONLY A YEAR OLD! He did stop, for the record, but the fact that he tried to fight me- OH MAN! Parenting is just gonna get harder, huh?
On the upside to this. He now shakes his head yes and no when I ask him a question. In my mind he’d be speaking full blown English already- but nothing yet that I can really say 100% is English- so yeah. We will take what we can get. And if what we can get is profuse head nodding when I ask him if he wants more refried beans? That’s fine for now.

we say “no thank you” insted of no…i feel like a nicer person when she pulls my hair and i want to yell “no” maybe if he is acting up now you will have it easier when he is two?

It’s not so much “acting up” but it’s definitely scary to get a peek of what it will be like when he tries to clearly defy me. Right now, he still has the “I don’t understand English” charade intact.
