In defense of the c-section:
Herrrooohhh vilified way to give birth!!
When I was pregnant with Hudson I was like SUPER into natural childbirth. I was not only convinced it was the better way to go- but that I could do it 100% drug free. I was stoked to watch my body do what it was “meant to do”.
I never got there. Because, Hudson was laying sideways in my stomach- maxin’ & relaxin’ like a G. So, after a failed external version and copious tears, I scheduled a c-section. January 20th, which was also Inauguration Day, 2009.
I wasn’t scared until I had my pre-op appointment, which made me cry because they make you fill out all the paperwork for what to do if you “don’t make it”. That part was not fun.
But, then I settled into the fact that I had a COUNTDOWN. I KNEW what day Hudson would be joining us and it gave me a sense of calm knowing that I had ‘x’ number of days left until I would be meeting my little guy or girl.
When the day came, it was very nice. I went into the hospital at like 630 AM, got prepped.
{Side note: my husband & I didn’t vote for Obama. We don’t have anything against him, as from a Republican standpoint- he & McCain were basically both Democrats. So, whatever. We were excited to see what this new president could do for this country, but we weren’t exactly busting at the seams with excitement. EVERYONE ELSE WAS. Every nurse, midwife and doctor we encountered felt the need to tell us how it was a magical day to be born and we were sooooo lucky and that we should consider naming Hudson “Obama” etc. Finally Scott got the balls to tell one of the ladies: “YEAH- WE DID NOT vote for Obama”. That shut them up. I told Scott that was a bad idea & now they’d probably slice me wrong. They didn’t- shit was easy-peesey.}
Anyways, a bunch of nurses gathered in our room to watch the acceptance speech and literally- as SOON AS HE WAS SWORN IN- they wheeled us off to the OR. Hudson was born at 10:05 AM PST.
C-sections, for those of you that haven’t had them are weird. You get a spinal. It’s like an epidural but it doesn’t last as long. You can TOTALLY still feel everything but it doesn’t hurt. It’s weird. Like I could feel everything they did. Freaky, but whatever. I healed and was up and walking within a few hours. It wasn’t horrible is all I’m trying to say, so for those of you that may end up one day having a c-section: don’t panic. It’s not that bad.
This all brings me to my point! I got a date!! Babies (as long as I don’t go into labor first) will be born Tuesday March 9th!! 40 days until then. Start the countdown, folks! Truman & Sawyer will be here soon!!
Also: yesterday I went to my ultrasound and as of now: Sawyer is 4#4oz and Truman is 4# even. That’s 8#4oz of baby up in there. Hudson only weighed 6#10oz. They are growing just fine and should be mature enough and big enough to go home with us after surgery. No long waiting periods in the hospital- unless something changes. I am working on getting the anemia thing under control as now I have a deadline & I got partial results regarding the possible liver issue. The partia results make me worry, as I am definitely above the normal range, but the dr emailed and said we have to wait for the second component before any changes to the surgery date are made. Worst case scenario they will move the date up a week or two, so the bile in my blood won’t effect them.

Ummm, I have some vacation time coming up. Just saying. Let me know if you think I should put in a request. Otherwise, I will leave you in peace from crazy Auntie.
Love you.
Yay! March 9th. Let me know when and if you need help, you know I’m around.
Oh so awesome!
I hope your other results come back fine, and that you stop itching!
