What’s going on, kids?!

By Emmie Bee, February 10, 2010 9:07 PM

It’s been a while since I’ve updated with anything besides a complaint, I recognize that. So, to remedy that issue I am gonna make this post chalk-full of information that you may (or may not) care about. Get ready. Lots o’ info flying at yo head NOW:

Let’s see. Today I accomplished a shitload. We woke up at the normal time and I stood by with my (probably literally) broken back while Hudson emptied every dresser and toy box in our room. I could do nothing but watch. We have been quarantined in the bedroom while the boys finish upstairs. We have a lofty open floor plan and besides our bedroom & the bathrooms there are no doors to shut in the construction. So, our entire living area is COVERED in sanding dust. Good news? Texture is taking place TOMORROW! Carpet estimator is coming TOMORROW. He says carpet can be in by middle of next week. We will paint this weekend. You hear that kids?! THE ROOM MIGHT BE FINISHED IN TIME. MIGHT. It’s like the best feeling EVER!

This morning, our diaper service dropped off our weekly rations & with them I got the first shipment of BROODY CHICK compostable diapers to try out.

And we may be on like diaper 5 here- but I think I am IN LOVE. They are used in conjunction with our diaper service, so we are still using cloth, but we have a faux-disposable option for when we are out and about. They look and work exactly like a disposable. There have been no leaks or mishaps all day. He is comfy & happy. And all we have to do? Save the diapers as we would the cloth diapers and chuck them into the Dekor diaper bin WITH the cloth diapers & Tiny Tots takes them all. They separate the cloth to clean and compost the Broody Chicks. COMPOST! What a novel idea!! I mean, I dunno if you can compost at home, seeing as poop is not exactly sanitary, but the fact that I can have the positives of disposable when needed and not contribute to “diaper island?!” Count me innnn. PS: I am so not against disposables. They just aren’t right for me. I’m not like, judging or anything. I wish I was reviewing these diapers after receiving them try- but of course, I receive nothing for free ever even though I TRY to get sponsors & giveaways. So, this is totally unbiased as I paid $17.00 for one box that has 28 diapers in it. Since, this is the first time I have ever purchased diapers other then paying my service bill- I have no idea if that is a good deal at all. But, I love the product so far and wanted to share! YAYYY.

What else? See- I knew this post would be EPIC!

Scott got off work early & we went to look at carpet samples (we found the perfect carpet- and then found the one we may be able to afford) and like I said, the estimator is coming in the morning to give us the hard numbers. Then we drove up to Marin county to buy a child seat for Scott’s bike that he found on Craigslist. At first, when we found it on CL we thought- dude! $85 bucks is a SHITLOAD for a kid seat. So, we went to price one out at the store. The one these people were selling for $85.00 was selling brand new for $180.00. Sure, this one is used- but less then 1/2 price. It just needs a bit of cleaning. We are stoked. Scott is gonna try to take Hudson on his 1st bike ride tomorrow evening.

Then, because there are only like 3 in the entire Bay Area, we went to the Giggle location in Corte Madera. I love Giggle. I registered there when I had Hudson, but since I didn’t have a huge baby shower this time around, I only registered at Lullaby Lane which I like to support as they are a local, family owned business. Anyhow: Giggle. We went in and looked around and I got a few little things. We went in there actually to buy Baby Milo’s birthday gift, but they were out of stock. So instead I got these:

(for Sawyer)
&

(for Hudson)

And FYI, I want THESE:

But they are $20.00 for 4 spoon and Scott says that’s too much. AKA: I will have to order when he isn’t home. :)

After our Giggle adventure, we drove home and met with our good friends Scott & Laurette who have a little guy as well (he’s 3) and she’s scheduled for her c-section on March 10th. This was our baby celebration dinner & it WAS AWESOME!

I also received in the mail today two super freaking cute handmade angora knit caps for the twins made with L.O.V.E. by Suzanne over at BEBEHBLOG. She is so sweet & super funny & clearly very talented. I nominated her for that blog award thig the other day, but def check her out because she rules. I will upload some pics tomorrow. SO AWESOME.

OK, I will wait till tomorrow for the rest, as I am totally tired and my back hurts from typing. I didn’t know that was possible until now. But, I guess it is.

I want to go on a bike ride!!!! Maybe Scott will let me tag along some time.

And, I have some prototypes for you, well for Sawyer. That can he hung in the closet or something. They are pretty puffy though, may take up a lot of space :/ we’ll see. Maybe she needs a tutu closet…? Just a suggestion.

RE: Diaper costs. I buy 80 Target brand diapers for like $13.99. But if you buy huggies or pampers they are a lot more. I’ve tried so many different brands and the Target brand works so good for us.

I love this post, it’s all about fun and at the stage you’re in right now, fun is freaking hard to come by, so go you!

I LOVE the bike seat thing and wholeheartedly support that purchase! We had one when I was growing up and I have awesome fun memories of going on bike rides with my Dad that way.

Mae: That’s so funny! Scott is so STOKED to take Hudson out on the bike. Before I was pregnant with Hudson we used to go out a LOT and it was always such fun. So, I cannot wait till Hudson has those memories with his father. I can’t wait till we can all go out as a family! I am hoping to find one of those trailers for the twins by summer so we can go as a family.
