Room update:
For those of you who don’t “tweet” or “twat” or whatever the heck you call it-
Here’s a few pics of the progress of our kids room/ playroom. Now, it’s not a ton of space but lets all remember that WE BOUGHT A 1 BEDROOM CONDO. It’s not like there is much room for improvement! But, we have done what we can with what we have and it’s turning out pretty alright.
We got the carpets in on Thursday. For those of you who missed that saga- they brought the WRONG COLOR carpet. I opted to install the incorrect carpet with a sizable discount. It ended up looking great & I know it’s totally toxic but holy crap new carpet smells AWESOME. I have also found out that spray paint does as well- but clearly, I am steering clear of both at the moment! I will have someone else spray paint my table and chair tomorrow.

This is the tree that my friend/neighbor Karin freehand drew on the wall. Then, we painted it together. It was so nice of her to help & clearly- she is a very good artist. LUCKY!

Here is a shot of the room tonight with the Anes dresser from IKEA all set up (even though it has to come out to do the baseboards!) and the new yellow wall shelves. It looks pretty cute & I’m happy. Here’s another shot of the same:

and here’s one of the little closet nook we did. It will store a bit of kid stuff and be helpful- even if it is minuscule.

I went & got that fabulous changing table from the lady on craigslist last night and it looks SOOOOO GOOD. I cannot believe it was only $40.00- I almost felt bad. The lady said she tried to take it to Goodwill but they wouldn’t take changing tables because the pad may have gotten yuckies on it. YOU COVER THE PAD. I am stoked. Their loss- my gain.
I also went to IKEA today and got a few things I needed. I am trying to get everything in pieces as we are short on cash as always & want to get certain things in order. OF COURSE my dresser that I really needed to get is out of stock at EVERY CA location with no ETA. They swear it is not discontinued- just very popular. So, if you are at IKEA and see this:
Buy it for me and I will give you the money. Until then- I have to wait it out. So, instead I bought one Expedit shelving unit and I will buy the other on Wednesday. Luckily, IKEA is only like 15 minutes away.

As I’ve said before I am copying THE 818 & making my very own expedit prison (ahem* OFFICE)
Anyways, baseboards are in mostly & those that aren’t are painted and drying. A bit of shopping tomorrow & by Monday night I plan to have Hudson sleeping upstairs in his new loft room. Cannot wait. A million more pics to follow!
PS: Hudson is totally teething. Not sure WHICH tooth yet- but homeboy had a fever last night and has woken up screaming both last night and tonight & needed literal ROCKING to sleep by his mama-this is a much different scenario than the normal middle-of-the-night wake-up where I just plop him in my bed and he’s ALREADY back to sleep. Oh, and reminder to cloth diapering mamas- DO NOT allow people to do the diaper before bed for you. My sis-in-law Sarah got Hudson dressed for bed tonight and I think at least part of his wake up was because he was SOAKED head to toe with pee. The cloth diaper cover is really meant to COVER the diaper. And, as I discovered while changing him and his outfit- at least 2” was hanging out of the top- just transferring that pee EVERYWHERE.
Good night all. More info soon!

i’m soooo happy that your new kids’ room is turning out so great! i love the tree – it gives the who room such a unique touch! your furniture choices are cute and totally functional. glad it’s all coming together! yay!
oh, and can i offer up a tip on nighttime diapering? miss poppy has always been a SUPER heavy night wetter, and she was peeing through her cloth diapers all the time, even when i doubled them up. now i put her in a disposable with a cloth dipe over it (no cover) and it holds everything in, ever time. the cloth diaper will wick away any excess moisture that leaks from the disposable, and baby’s bottom stays drier because the sposie keeps wettness at bay. anyhoo, especially with your newbies coming soon i just thought i’d suggest it because it works fantastic!
have fun nesting, lovely lady! cheers!
This room is coming along great. I love the painted tree on the wall. I can’t wait to see the picture of the final decorated room
