McFatty Monday #1

March 15th, 2010

Hey Blair! Thanks for the “thinspiration!” (Yeah, that was pretty cheesy)

But, whatever. It’s my blog & I can be cheesy when need be.

So, let’s talk FAT. I have always shared with you guys that I am a fat chick. I am. I developed pretty early, actually needing that training bra in 3rd grade, while other girls had them to be cool. By 6th grade I was filling out dresses my mother wore in HER TWENTIES. Yeah, by the time I met my husband I’d venture to say I had the PERFECT BODY- too bad I was 14 years old! It sucks to peak early, my friends.

Anyhow, after a few years of “the shot” and eating like I was still 14 years old- I had gained a poop-load of weight and by the time I was 19 I was just straight up fat. I’m still not comfortable talking numbers- but let’s be frank: I’m 5’5” and weighed something starting in 2. So, I got on the fad diet train. I did Atkins and lost 30+ pounds. I took some crazy prescription from a diet doctor and didn’t eat for days. I got back down to “looking good” but hungry Emily is a bitch and prescriptioned Emily is a bitch. And really, my husband & I FOUGHT. We ended up breaking up for a short while. (we weren’t married yet.)

Then, I stopped dieting. Because I looked good. And I was having fun partying like any 22 year old. My hubs and I got back together. AND BEFOREEE I KNEW IT! I was an even HIGHER number starting with two. When I got married it was the heaviest I had ever been. When I saw pictures? OH MAN. I RAN to Weight Watchers. Through making pretty healthy decisions and changing a lot about my exercise habits (HELLO SPIN CLASS!) I got down to the lowest I’d been in a long time.

Then I got Pregnant with Hudson.

And since I got so sick- I lost EVEN MORE WEIGHT! I was literally the lightest I’ve been since High School until I was 5 months pregnant.

That didn’t last, and at delivery of my son, I was about 10 pounds less then the worst case scenario. I guess that’s pretty good, because most girls are the heaviest ever while pregnant. So, I Got lucky I suppose.

But, as anyone who reads this blog knows- I lost a bit of weight from Hudson’s pregnancy – only to find out 4 months later that I was pregnant AGAIN WITH TWINS. So, needless to say, I never got to my old size before starting to grow all over!

I did lose weight again in my last pregnancy, as I have had Hyperemesis in both pregnancies. This time, however it was caught earlier and they were more aggressive with medication. So, I was back on track and heading north on the scale in no time at all.

And guys?! I gained 53 pounds. When I had those twins almost two weeks ago- my previous “worst weight ever” was a distant memory and I was just straight up SAD to get on the scale.

So, that’s where we are now. I am joining McFatty Monday OFFICIALLY. I will need to add in more exercise once I get the all clear from the doctor in a few weeks- but I think exercise probably isn’t necessary when you climb a flight of stairs to your doorstep and carry THREE KIDS AT A TIME up and down from their room 80 times a day. All together these babies weigh about 35 pounds. And I kid you not- I carried them ALL up the stairs just now.

Luckily, Hudson is reading (he hates when I try to read to him- he likes to do it on his own) and the babies are sleeping. So, I had time to blog this out right quick.

Anyhow:
Since the twins were born on March third, I am down from 2** to 1**. Yes. I have crossed the threshold into the weights beginning with one already! In total, as of yesterday’s compulsive naked weigh in before showering I have lost THIRTY-THREE POINT FIVE POUNDS. HOLLER!!!

I’ll be updating next week and hoping to see more progress.

I am with you, Em. Need to get on the “let’s shake of the pounds” wagon. All his extra weight is totally getting me down. Congrats on your progress. May take a cue from you and go public, so I have to be accountable.

Oh I can relate. I was at my highest weight ever BEFORE I got pregnant, so those 50 pounds I gained in 9 months were awful. I lost 20 by the time I was home from the hospital, I’ve lost another 20 by working my ass off at Stroller Strides and I’m only 10 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. I know my problem is my diet (she said as she finished off her Wendy’s french fries) but I get SO HUNGRY when I try to cut back because I’m still nursing full time. My ultimate goal is to lose 30 more pounds, but since I’m hoping to have more kids in the next couple of years it almost doesn’t seem worth all that work, you know?

Oh and since this isn’t my blog and almost no one knows me, I’ll tell you I was 219 (and I’m 5’5″) when I gave birth. I made them write everything down in metric so it looked like less :)

Suzanne- don’t worry. I topped that at delivery two weeks ago. I am happy to report I fit into my old jeans- just with some MAJOR muffin top. I’ll stick to sweats for a while longer!!

Oh how I need your inspiration. I started McFatty Monday when it first began with Blair. And let’s just say. = FAIL. I need to get back on the bandwagon ASAP. And seriously, if you can do it with newbon twins and a toddler…I am pathetic. Thanks for the reality check.

Tiffany- I’m only all stoked to do this because I’ve lost so much doing nothing but sitting on my ass. Once I have to work for it- I’ll probably fail. lol. But, I do plan to try to walk with the twins in the stroller & Hudson on my back once I get the OK. Walking while pushing a stroller and carrying 22 pounds on your back has to burn calories!

And Elle: OMG! You are too sweet. <3

Good Luck Emily!!! You can do itttttttt. I need to find some motivation. I’ve been horrible about the weight loss lately. I’m only 12lbs away from pre pregnancy weight but it still seems SO FAR away.

Emily, Walking a twin stroller with Hudson on your back absolutely HAS to burn calories.
For 2 days following riding the bike with Hudson on the back for less than an hour, my thighs were burning. It may just be because I’m way out of shape, but I’m convinced his extra weight had alot to do with it.

Isn’t it exciting losing weight after a baby? It’s so much easier than regular old losing weight. In the few weeks after Mary and Lila were born, I had night sweats BAD and they were gross, but awesome for weight loss. I’d weigh myself at night and then again the morning because it was like watching some freak science experiment…4 pounds a night! Yes, that’s right. I was retaining THAT much water at the end of my pregnancy.

Weight is stupid. Today I got home from work and my neighbor (she’s in her late 50′s, and usually a pretty nice lady) was chatting with me as I unloaded M&L from the car, and she said, “So, have you lost all that baby weight yet? What do you weigh?” Um, HELLO?! Who asks that question?!

WOW! Kirsten: that neighbor has BALLS. lol. I cannot believe someone ask that. That’s right up there with my pet peeve “How much did THAT cost!?” People are special.

I’ve always been a fatty, too. I love pasta & I learned to eat away my feelings with it. At 17 I was 198 pounds, and 5’7. I didn’t want to be the fat girl when I went to college so I went on a strict diet with lots of exercising and I lost 30 pounds in 3 months, just in time to move into the dorms. Luckily, I didn’t gain the Freshman 15, either. And then after about 6 months I realized that my “dieting” wasn’t healthy. I wasn’t anorexic and I wasn’t bulemic but I was something (if that makes sense). Eventually the doctor classified it as ED-NOS, basically an eating disorder that doesn’t fit into any of the rigid categories. Shortly after that I met my husband, got pregnant, gained 60 freaking pounds and ended up weighing above 230 (I eventually stopped looking & listening when they weighed me at the doctor’s office). Sebastian is 18 months old now and I have most of the weight. I’m down to like 220 now. I really want to lose the weight but I’m really afraid I’ll get back into my old ways. I was such a grouch back then because lack of food all the time made me unhappy and often gave me headaches. How can you be a good mom like that? I have 19, literally, bottles of diet pills in my kitchen cabinet from my old days but I’m afraid to use them.

I’m very happy for the weight you’ve already lost! I’m sure you’ll continue to do great!

Lillian: Weight watchers is great. I haven’t started back again- but I plan to soon! Diet pills are ALL bad. Don’t even start that! I’m sure you can do it- if I can!!

Ugh yucky muffin top…I actually weighted less after I gave birth than what I started with but my body is totally yucky: my boobs are saggy, my insides decided that they actually liked hanging out of my jeans and refuse to go back where they belong and stretch marks donĀ“t seem to be disappearing so I guess I should also join McFatty Mondays!

FYI – Cheesy is good in my opinion : )

It is SO unfortunate that women gain weight when they’re in a relationship. NOT fair. As for the baby weight – I have total faith that you can do it! The support from the other McFatty bloggers is SO important for me! I hope you find some comfort in that too! Good luck to you!
