This is the first day of my life.

Dinnertime.

April 30th, 2010

I am beginning to feel challenged trying to come up with foods that Hudson can feed himself and are easy to make. I have decidedly cut a few corners- like with Annie’s instant white cheddar mac & cheese. I also am having trouble coming up with veggies and ways to prepare them.

*notice how cute that plate is?!*

Anyways- this was dinner tonight. I just basically throw anything I can find on his plate while trying to cover all the food groups. Tonight? Mac & Cheese, cheerios, mixed fresh berries, zucchini & carrots with parmesan cheese & sliced up cherry tomatoes. What do you feed your toddler?

Side note: he refuses to be fed. He wants to eat things he can pick up with his fork. Yup, my kids eats with a fork.

I am still struggling with foods my 8 mo can feed himself. He likes to do it himself but hasn’t even mastered the whole pincer grip yet. Oh, I’m in so much trouble with this independent little one.

I would love to hear what other mom’s feed their toddlers. Bresho is the worst picky eater in the history of picky eating. He refuses to eat anything chunky or with weird texture like rice or cous-cous. Talking about cous-cous… have you ever tried it? It is SO easy to make (pour boiling water over the cous-cous,let it stand for 5 minutes and that’s it… you don’t need a stove or a pot… it’s amazing). Anyway, he eats like five things and THAT IS IT. We’ve had many frustrating meals and I don’t know if I should force-feed him or let him starve.

Nolan eats what we eat for the most part, but I’m not having any luck with breakfast foods. Any suggestions?

P.S where did you get that plate? Way too adorable!

Oh God I can rarely get Lucy to eat vegtables. The only time she will eat any is when my Dad or my SIL feeds her (she’ll eat anything her 2 favorite people give her). She basically lives on fruit, yogurt, cheese, beans and peanut butter and honey sandwiches.
She also loves meatloaf which I add purreed veggeis to and use oats instead of breadcrumbs. (Actually maybe you’re a vegetarian? If so obviously ignore that one)
    I’d love more ideas :)

looks like you’re doing a GREAT job, mama! all that food is nutritious and you’re working with how hudson likes to eat – i don’t see anything wrong here! (: adorable that he eats with a fork already. what a little champ!

poppy goes through phases right now with solids- she has a whole mess of teeth coming in and some days i can just tell eating makes her really uncomfortable. she’ll start to chew and then whimper and pull the food out of her mouth with her hands – poor dear!

regular foods for p are: morningstar chickn’ nuggets, sharp cheddar cheese, wheat toast with butter or cream cheese, yo baby yogurt, and any of the veggie/fruit purees i make & freeze. although some days she basically just survives on soy milk, toast & yogurt!

    (:

MJ is all over the place with food. We have absolutely no routine other than breakfast. For breakfast he either gets yo baby and a morning star sausage patty or two or yo baby and oatmeal. The rest of the day is whatever we can get him to eat. We tend to eat out alot….still. So he eats a lot of mac n cheese! It’s his favorite though. He LOVES mac n cheese!

I don’t even know what I’m going to do when H starts eating solids! It’s nice that all he needs right now is my boob in his mouth. At least you’re making sure he’s getting something from each food group…I know a lot of parents that don’t even do that!

Love the plate, we almost took that one home last week but then my husband snapped me back into reality by pointing out how many plates we already own. Ahhh G, so practical that husband of mine.

We have that plate, too! And the matching cup even though I can only put water in it because Sebastian will spill about half of it. Sebastian also refuses to be fed. We rarely have true meals, just a ton of snacks during the day. Usually yogurt, then cheerios, then if I do actually cook something that day it will be during lunchtime, a few hours after lunch we might have some some raw veggies or fruits, and we usually end the night with crackers.
