So, like an idiot, I woke up this morning & decided that I was ready to leave the house BY MYSELF with all three kids. Yes, I do know they are almost 10 weeks old, but I had never gotten up the courage to brave going into public with all three in tow. The 3:1 ratio makes me want to cry just thinking about it.
But, I did it. I got up with my husband & even convinced him to let me share the shower. I got dressed & ready before everyone woke up & after getting everyone changed, fed & dressed we headed out to my uncle’s shop to try to make it there and take photo booth pics with the kids before they came to pick up the machine. Unfortunately, by 1030 the machine was gone. We did however get some left over food from the party which is great because free food is AWESOME.
It’s a real debacle getting three kids loaded & unloaded, let me tell you. Our house is above the garages, which means our front door is on the second story. So, I got everything to the front door. I took Hudson down & put him in his car seat then ran back up & carried the twins down. It takes much to long. Then when we got to my uncles, it was a 10 minute operation to get the stroller out & set-up. Then? Load up the twins into the stroller & then grab Hudson and hold him while pushing the double stroller with one hand. Yeah, not an easy task. It especially sucked since the photo booth was gone & I was there for 5 minutes & then had to spend another 10 minutes loading them BACK INTO the car.
But now- here is where the fun begins! We went to my favorite baby store, Lullaby Lane & got the best spot possible. Like, directly in front of the front door. I parked, set up the stroller & got Truman out & into the stroller. I went around the other side of the car and unbuckled Sawyer. JUST THEN a HUGE gust of wind started & ummm- Truman & the double MacLaren BLEW AWAY. Like, He was traveling at a high rate of speed down the street. I RANNNNNNN way faster than I thought I could and caught up with him right before he crashed into a building like 1/2 a block away. I kid you not. It was EPIC parent fail. I had no idea the MacLaren even had a brake. Luckily, (or unluckily) one of the nice ladies at the store saw him fly away and came running to help. She then kindly waited with the stroller while I loaded Sawyer into it & got Hudson out. I repaid them by spending WAYYY too much- but I had fun shopping. I still felt like a total chump for letting Truman literally blow away. I’m sure they were all judging. Though one of the ladies was nice enough to demonstrate how the hell the brake works.
Not sure I will try that again in the near future.

If it makes you feel better, I have ONE kid and his stroller totally blew away in the mall parking lot a couple weeks ago. And I know how to work the brake, I’m just too much of an idiot to set it while turning my back on the stroller so I can check my phone before I load the baby into the car. I’m totally gonna win Mommy Of The Year. In hell.
And your baby store sounds fab, I totally want to go blow a ton of money there too.

Dude, so I was just wondering the other day about how you do it. Because it stresses me out doing things with just one. I wondered how you handled it with three. (and yes, the stroller has tried making a run for it before. Very scary!)

Scary but funny, I am betting when he is a bratty teenager (and he will be) you will at some point say ” I could have let you blow away in your stroller” !!!! Love Ya Emily

Oh no! I agree with the previous commenters…you aren SO brave. It was hard enough just with the twins to get out of the house. As for the stroller…don’t feel too bad. It could happen to anyone! Once, I had the girls in the maclaren and we were shopping, and I had several rather heavy bags on the handles of the stroller. I unsnapped Lila and as I lifted her out of the stroller, the entire thing tipped backwards and would have fallen over, WITH Mary strapped in, if I hadn’t grabbed it quickly enough. So, watch out for that…
I love all your pictures…brings back so many memories of M&L’s baby days. I’ve been wondering about Hudson…how is he handling being the eldest child? Have their been any jealousy issues? Just wondering, because we deal with lots of jealousy issues with M&L and it makes me feel so guilty.

I am so glad it all turned out OK!
One time, when I was pregnant, and older daughter was about two years old, I agreed to push her in the stroller. She usually wanted to walk everywhere, but today she wanted the stroller. Whatever.
I set up the stroller, and while she was trying to fasten her seatbelt, I tried to push it. It wouldn’t go. I pushed harder, and it still wouldn’t go.
I gave a mighty shove and dumped the stroller right over. My daughter was tossed to the sidewalk and she was soooo mad!
I sat down on the sidewalk with her and apologized.
And then noticed that I had forgotten to release the stroller’s brake.
Sigh.

[...] I guess from there we will back up even further. I had a pretty chill weekend and even made a few strides to getting our company paperwork back under control. Sure, I need at least 12 more hours of uninterrupted work, but I am getting somewhere slowly. It helped that my Mom & Step-Dad had taken Hudson Saturday night, so I had most of Sunday to work since Scott was home & able to take the twins on himself. That was a win. My parents were also sweet enough to babysit so Scott & I could attend Lisa’s party without kids. That’s always awesome. Love my kiddos- but sometimes- a break is necessary. Nothing wrong with a few drinks with the adults once in a while! I appreciate getting out of the house so much more since the twins. When it was just Hudson I was able to get out a lot more. We’d go out several days a week. But, with three this young- I cannot leave the house alone with all three. I mean I CAN but as you know, it ain’t pretty. [...]
