This is the first day of my life.

I wish we were Swedish.

July 15th, 2010

Like, seriously. All the coolest things are from Sweden. or The Netherlands. Denmark.
Hans Wegner?
My Svan highchair?
The Naef toys we covet?
The Baekfiets we plan to save for.
SWEDISH. FISH.
I could also argue the fact that I still love Nina from The Cardigans even if their commercial success with Lovefool kinda makes me sad to this day. Because HELLO? ‘Fine’ was SUCH a great song & their ‘Iron Man’ cover is just plain awesome.

Basically I wish I was small and blonde & blue eyed & living in such a design forward culture. Because design is basically my lifeblood, guys. And while my main focus in regards to design is architecture & furniture design- I can appreciate a well designed object, piece of clothing, song etc. And guys? This thing is OUT OF CONTROL. And we? Are saving our pennies to buy one. Because it s truly insane.

Those crazy (and by crazy I mean AMAZING) Swedes are at it again making me wish I was rich so I could single handedly support that entire section of the planet by buying all the ingenious shit they think up.

Although, at least I can claim Ray & Charles as my “countrymen” and Frank as my Canadian counterpart. Hey, at least my kids are Canadian.

Ha obviously I had to read this (though I'm pretty sure I read all your posts anyway) because of the title. I'm half Swedish- though also half Italian so no blonde hair here, and spend 12 years of my life (including 6 months last year) and Sweden is even more amazing than you can imagine. Ad prams to your list of Swedish Awesomeness-best money EVER spent!

Speaking of Prams: we have one for MJ that was Mercer & Mitchell’s when they were babies. We never used it with him though. I think I’m going to dust it off and use it if we have another baby!.

I think I saw this a few months ago some where but, never noticed the price tag on it. Hefty. But I totally effing love it. you can even get an attachment for a second seat to really get your moneys worth. I don't think I could talk Mercer into it though, he's a tight wad, except for when it comes to stuff he wants for himself!

Yeah it's $1495 & then it's additional $200 something for the second seat which I would obviously need. lol. Luckily Scott loves baby gear something fierce. He always wants the kids to have the latest gadgets. Not that we can afford them- but when we do have money to spend he doesn't mind splurging on the kiddos. Unfortunately- by the time we have $1500 they will be 12 anyhow so it's pointless anyways.

Hey, but, on the bright side think about how amazing shape your body would be in pushing around twin 12 year olds!!!

If I bought that mercer would make me push milo in it until he left for college!

Sure we Swedes are blond…but small? No way. Do you know how cold it gets in Sweden? We need body fat yo, to wrangle the reindeer and chop wood and make all that disgusting lutefisk. Or at least my grandparents did. I just need someplace to store all these french fries. But I will admit a strange longing to sell all my crap and live in a 600 sf apartment full of pale wood and white fabric and light.

I think Ikea definitely needs to hit this list of amazing things coming out of Sweden. I could live in that place. And what IS that neat device you've pictured here? A stroller-cycle?? NEAT.

It's called a taga & it is a bike that in 20 seconds, while the child stays on board turns into a stroller. Bike to your destination and then stroll through Target. (Since Target is ALWAYS the destination)
