Hi This is the most wonderful, powerful, honest real comment on Motherhood I have read for a long time. I applaud you in the trenches! If more people were more honest about the ups and downs of motherhood I think depression would not be as prevalent. I had PND first time round, but this time I shout it out loud and am well, still exhausted, etc, but well. I love your dad's Big Girl Panties quote and woke up my baby I was laughing so loud! I might just quote him alot.
Power to you!
If I misunderstood, I apologize. I feel that you misunderstand some of the issue as well, but to each our own, right?
Kim
Kim again. Wait, maybe I DID misunderstand. Re-reading your post AGAIN, although I did like 5 times before I posted. I see your point about motherhood and how it's not supposed to be 'easy' — I certainly never thought it was going to be that way. I think I personally got upset because you sited two women who have PPD/Depression, and that colored my response to the entire post. Once I took THAT out of the picture . . . my apologies if I offended you. Although I suspect you are made of tougher stuff than that
The reason they were sited was due to their posted regarding feeling “lied to” that was outside of the fact they both happen to have PPD. I was addressing a specific point in their writing, not judging them for having an illness.
Saw you on Just By Living and just want to say I have the SAME relationship with food. We were never aloud sweets and I would sneak off to vending machines and binge…….I totally agree on teaching them moderation.
