Probably the most touching thing I have ever read.

Jill over at Baby Rabies tweeted a link to this post tonight. I wasn’t prepared. I think it’s the most honest, beautiful thing I’ve ever read. Continue reading 'Probably the most touching thing I have ever read.'»

Beware.

By Emmie B, December 22, 2009 8:54 PM

So, normally, Gymboree is not my style. I have made a few returns there when Hudson has received gifts that were too small. Anyways, I had a left over credit there (like $8.00) but I talked Scott into going in there last night just to see “what was on sale.”

I walked away with two new items for Sawyer (Yes, I know- Hudson & Truman are ALREADY getting the shaft)

Too bad my $8.00 didn’t get us very far. I walked out $50.00 poorer even AFTER my big $8.00 credit. ON TWO ITEMS. Scott was not happy. AT ALL. Anyhow- I won’t be going in there anytime soon.

Hugs & Thanks to my web-friend Emily B!

I just got these in the mail today!

Emily made these herself and they are just adorable. They are also the very first hair accessories in Sawyer’s repertoire. Yay for Emily & Poppy!

Thanks, mama! You are seriously great!! <3

YAY!

As you may or may not remember, I was in love with this top from Old Navy for baby girls. Looking back I was probably pregnant when I first saw it. But, not knowing that- I didn’t buy it. Then, once I knew I was prego I didn’t buy because I didn’t want to get crazy on clothes before I even knew what I was having. Of course once I did find out there was in fact a girl in my tummy- this dress was NO WHERE to be found. UNTIL TODAY!!

We were in Old Navy (not our usual one) looking at maternity jeans for me. I ended up with maternity cords, but- I also ended up finding THIS SHIRT!!!

on654708-00vliv01-225x300It is a 0-3 month size, which isn’t the size I would have picked if there were choices, but never the less, Sawyer will be rocking this and there will be pictures!! YAY for Old Navy sale racks. Since it was down to $5.98 from $10.80. NICE!

Hudson is a savage.

By Emmie B, October 31, 2009 5:33 PM

It’s true.

I mean, I have no idea how other kids react- but homeboy is TOUGH. For example today: He is cruising around the bedroom crawling and pulling up on furniture, walking between furniture (while holding on) and then grabs the diaper pail to use as something to support himself. I had just emptied the pail, so it didn’t have much in it- but cloth diapers get heavy. Anyways, he pulled it towards himself causing it to fall down on top of him while he just timbers backwards. Smacks his head on the carpet and is pinned by the pail. DOES NOT CRY. He just chills till I move the pail and then he gets up and goes on about his business. Then, 5 minutes later- he does the same thing. It’s kinda hilarious.

I’m hoping he continues to act with such disregard to pain. It helps me to not freak out every time he falls. And when he DOES cry after a fall- say- falling on the hardwood floor and smacking his nose- I know he is truly hurt. I like that he doesn’t sweat the small stuff.

I am hoping Sawyer & Truman are similar in this respect.

In other news, I added a TON of crap to our myregistry.com wishlist today because my stepmom had emailed asking for Christmas ideas for the baby and for us. I found wayyyyyyyy too much, so I figured I’d start using the wishlist again. It was FUN.

Today, we went to Target to get Halloween candy just in case we got trick or treat-ers tonight (of course we haven’t and it’s 8:30). We looked through the sale racks and found a few cute little girls outfits and they totaled less than $10 for like 4 items. YAY CLEARANCE! Also today, my order from Paul Frank.com came via Fed Ex. I was stoked- it only took like 2 days and I only paid $1.80 of my own money as the rest was a very generous gift certificate from a friend. Sawyer scored a hoodie, leggings and a onesie and Truman got a cool t-shirt. I know that doesn’t seem fair to Truman, but we have soooooo many boy’s clothes and NO girls clothes.

We took Hudson to the park for a while today and he played on the swings and he & I went down the slide a few times. It was a nice little walk. After that, we went to El Super for dinner and now? Yeah, we’re boring. It’s 8:30 on Halloween and we are watching a special about Oakland gang members. AWESOME. lol. At least Hudson is wearing a Halloween onesie, since we didn’t get him a costume, and I am wearing an orange shirt over a black one. Yeah, that’s our Halloween. Luckily, since no one had come to get our candy- I will get to eat hella Milky Ways! My favorite. Especially frozen. STOKED.

We have agreed!!!

By Emmie B, October 30, 2009 3:20 PM

We have come to an agreement!!! I’m happy to report that my wonderful husband told me that after mulling it over he has decided he loves my name choices and babys Brandt officially have their names.

 Sawyer Jolene &
Truman Joseph Walker 

Sawyer, because I heart the name and Jolene for the Dolly song of the same name.

Truman: because I have had a mild obsession with Harry S. Truman ever since I did a report on him long long ago. Joseph is both my father & stepfather’s middle name as well as my grandpa’s first name. And Walker? We just love it too much to pass it up!!!

There you have it. The Brandt twins have names. Awesome ones.

Now- we will wait patiently to see their sweet little faces. 17ish weeks to go!!!

Let us discuss:

By Emmie B, October 29, 2009 2:08 PM

how out of control freaking ADORABLE Baby Gap girls clothes are!?

I am not a huge fan of the baby boy stuff there, though by 18 months the clothes get pretty cute.

BUT THE GIRLS!

Oh my dear sweet little baby girl is going to be sooooo freaking spoiled.

As spoiled as my shoestring budget can afford! If anyone wants to send me Gap gift cards I will gladly accept and love them forever.

I’m officially consumed.

By Emmie B, October 28, 2009 8:10 AM

I have been online allllll freaking morning while Hudson takes an EPIC nap.

The nap is good because last night was legitimately the worst sleeping night I’ve had since Hudson was very very young. Like a 2 days old. Homeboy woke up like 5 times, even AFTER being in bed with me. and let me tell you- screaming is a lot louder an inch from your ear. He sounded like he was in pain. I think it’s teeth- but again- let’s be serious. Hudson will NEVER have teeth. Its pretty much time to start shopping for baby dentures. 9 months and not a glimmer. I give up.

Anyhow- back to online- I have been scouring the internets for girlie baby clothes. I mean, she can wear Hudson’s hand-me-downs as well- but I am a huge fan of my little girl wearing boy clothes accented by tights, baby legs, hair clips and tutus. lol. So, I have been making a LIST of shit I want to buy- but cannot afford. Why must it be so hard being poor!? lol.

Anyhow- for mom’s of girls- I will accept any and all hand-me-downs as well as any links to sites or places you go to find fun stuff for your little ones. And if you come across anything particularly awesome I;d love to be made aware!
