This song makes me smile, especially on a rainy day. Hope you enjoy:
Bowl of Oranges
The rain, it started tapping on the window near my bed. There was a loophole in my dreaming,
so I got out of it. And to my surprise my eyes were wide and already open.
Just my nightstand and my dresser where those nightmares had just been.
So I dressed myself and left then, out into the gray streets.
But everything seemed different and completely new to me.
The sky, the trees, houses, buildings, even my own body.
And each person I encountered, I couldn’t wait to meet.
I came upon a doctor who appeared in quite poor health.
I said “{I am terribly sorry but} there is nothing I can do for you
{that} you can’t do for yourself.”
He said “Oh yes you can. Just hold my hand. I think that would help.”
So I sat with him a while and then I asked him how he felt.
He said, “I think I’m cured. No, in fact, I’m sure.
Thank you Stranger, for your therapeutic smile.”
So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone.
And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow.
But when crying don’t help and you can’t compose yourself.
It is best to compose a poem, an honest verse of longing or simple song of hope.
That is why I’m singing…
Baby don’t worry cause now I got your back. And every time you feel like crying,
I’m gonna try and make you laugh. And if I can’t, if it just hurts too bad,
then we will wait for it to pass and I will keep you company
through those days so long and black.
And we’ll keep working on the problem we know we’ll never solve
Of Love’s uneven remainders, our lives are fractions of a whole.
But if the world could remain within a frame like a painting on a wall.
Then I think we would see the beauty.
Then we would stand staring in awe at our still lives posed like a bowl of oranges,
like a story told by the fault lines and the soil.
*When I look at my blog with all the BE lyrics on the first page it may appear that I am a super fan. I love me some BE on rainy days, today being the perfect day. So, I apologize for looking obsessed. It’s really not like that.
I love love LOVE this song. LOVE ITTTTT. So pretty.
They played it on SYTYCD last night and made the dance. So perfect. It’s odd because they usually play newer stuff. I heart Stars. Saw them a few years back and they were pretty good! Yay Canadians!
“God that was strange to see you again
Introduced by a friend of a friend
Smiled and said ‘yes I think we’ve met before’
In that instant it started to pour,
Captured a taxi despite all the rain
We drove in silence across Pont Champlain
And all of the time you thought I was sad
I was trying to remember your name…
This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
Tried to reach deep but you couldn’t get in
Now you’re outside me
You see all the beauty
Repent all your sin
It’s nothing but time and a face that you lose
I chose to feel it and you couldn’t choose
I’ll write you a postcard
I’ll send you the news
From a house down the road from real love…
Live through this, and you won’t look back…
Live through this, and you won’t look back…
Live through this, and you won’t look back…
There’s one thing I want to say, so I’ll be brave
You were what I wanted
I gave what I gave
I’m not sorry I met you
I’m not sorry it’s over
I’m not sorry there’s nothing to save
Music is probably one of THE MOST IMPORTANT things in my life. It makes my heart smile. A certain song- at a certain time… a certain song- ANYTIME. Music and mood have such a connection. I dunno what I’d do without my love of music.
I am interested in the top 10 (or so) artists on everyone’s favorite’s list. Which albums? Let’s compile an fantastic list of music NOT to miss.
These appear in no particular order.
Led Zeppelin.
The Beatles.
The Stones.
The Decemberists.
Bright Eyes.
Jeff Buckley.
Bob Dylan.
Portishead.
Counting Crows.
Neil Young.
Cursive.
Clapton.
The Faint.
Oh man. this was a can of worms. More to add later.
“There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more”
-Lennon/McCartney
Such a great song. I have had day in the life in my head all day- but I thought this song was better for these purposes. It reminded me of today.
If you’re a reader from the beginning or just starting to visit or whatever….
This song is the inspiration for my BLOG.
Everyday is a new experience and a new thing to discover. Sometimes, in life, certain days seem to wipe the slate clean and make you see so clearly what is important.
Everyday is a day to make a change for the better. To reach out to an old friend, to fix something broken- to tell those you love that you love them and appreciate them.
So, please take time out of your busy days & enjoy this video. It’s certainly not the first time I’ve posted it- and it certainly won’t be the last. But, it helps me reflect & I hope you feel the same while watching it.
Perez posted this video today, which is awesome, except- husband has had this song on heavy rotation for at LEAST two months. I guess he’s late to the party, but it’s a good thing he got there. I thought Perez was supposed to know the hip new stuff?
And yes, Scott does listen mostly to rap. lol. I have no idea when this happened, but, since I don’t ever listen to the radio and spend my time listening to newish folk rock/ indie, I do hear all my new music through him. Otherwise, it’s just The Decemberists and Bob Dylan. lol.
So, I’m a big fan of the show Degrassi: The next generation. I watch it whenever I can find it on. It really is one of the better teen shows on TV. It explores important issues and all that shiz.
Anyhow: Scott had been telling me about this song he heard on the radio called “The Best I Ever Had” by some fool named Drake. (To clarify, he was making fun of it.)
Then! On Perez the other day they were talking about how Rihanna was dating some guy from Degrassi, Aubrey Graham. I thought that was totally random since on the show he was super dorky…
Well, I figured out Aubrey Graham & Drake are one in the same. HILARIOUS. I dunno how people can take him seriously without picturing him in a wheelchair talking to the Vito kid and having erectile dysfunction (he legitimately struggled with that in the show!)
To top off ALL of this…
The song is fucking ridiculous.
Go HERE and listen to “The Best I Ever Had” and don’t be afraid to sing along to the chorus:
I say you the fucking best
you the fucking best
you the fucking best
you the fucking best
you the best I ever had
the best I ever had
you the fuckin’…
Well, you get the point. He is so out of control that he may just be my hero! lol. He has ever fooled lil’ Weezy into doing a song with him. WTF IS THIS?!
So awesome that Kanye West was so hurt by last night’s South Park that he felt the need to BLOG alllll about it. I saw the post on Perez (Obviously) and I am loving it.
I am a HUGE Kanye fan…but he has a serious ego problem and as always, South Park goes above and beyond in their quest for greatness. I honesty think that when you strip back the crude humor, etc. South Park really is the smartest thing on television.
